Business Idea

Sustainable, eco-friendly, green business

IDEA

Creating wood based products using OSB Sheating Method

Vision

Supporting environment issues through creating an eco-friendly business for products people would use often.

Mission

Reusing scrap material people would normally throw away then developing it to a new product which holds a function but still maintains an aesthetic value with top quality. In addition, persuade society in improving our environment's health.

But what is OSB?

OSB (Oriented Standard Board) is made from wood strands of s whole tree and makes use of crooked, knotty and deformed trees that would otherwise go unused. As strands, they are mixed with waterproof resin and interleaved together in thick mats, which are then bonded together under heat and pressure

Manufacturers produce a range of OSB products for structure and non-structural uses. As a lightweight, strong and versatile wood product it can be used for roof, wall and floor sheathing.

  • OSB is sourced from sustainable forests and tree farms, using scrap wood becoming a renewed building material.

  • OSB is safe from production to construction, the resin binders and waxes used are stabilized and cured ensuring no off-gassing. Also, minimizing energy in manufacturing.

  • Good strength and durability

  • Cheaper cost, created in bulks reducing cost for customers

  • Can be disposed by burning or landfill

Exercise 2

Developing Green Biz

At this stage we were briefed on creating a business plan and counting the finances of a business.

We were also taught about the 'red ocean' and 'blue ocean' of business. We then presented the team's each business ideas and came to a conclusion to choose Alicia's business idea (coffee ground alternative products, including in blue ocean which means we have less competitors but have to create and capture new demand)

Business Plan Development

We went on ahead on developing the business plan essentials (First on docs format). Alicia, Leta, and I worked together in creating the business plan essentials, I dominantly researched on the market analysis and also market plans. The main challenge here is creating the financial plans as we were very new to the idea. Our initial financial plan was still inaccurate which then was corrected on the final business pitch.

After that we continued on making the ppt version to be presented of our business plan, complete with the market analysis, product description, and competitor analysis.

product development & branding

We then created a moodboard of our branding and mascot to be used.

the initial sketches of the mascot was drawn by me and then later digitized and further developed by leta

mascot name : Coby

Packaging Development

I was in charge of creating the packaging design. We wanted our packaging to also be eco-friendly so we chose a corrugated box as our packaging.

Final Pitch

Feedback after final Pitch

Evaluation

We delivered the final presentation performance well based on our lecturer's feedback. Our business received positive feedbacks, already having a suitable market here in Indonesia since based on our research Indonesia is one of the top coffee producers. With the rise of local coffee shops, it will help support the partnership for creating a reality. This project has been quite a challenge for me personally, I am not one to have much knowledge in creating a business, but once we got the hang of what we should do the process became more fun. Although at certain weeks we were falling behind of other teams, we pulled through by the end of the final presentation and all of the work we put in was very much worth it.
